Will You Do It?

As the Holy Spirit always does, He never ceases to amaze me when I allow Him to lead me, instead of me trying to lead Him. (Like that is even possible, but we fool ourselves many times!). Tonight, He led me back to a place and prayer I had written in my journal over 7 years ago–yes, 7!  You will know why I am excited about this number in a future post.  I was working on something the Lord had told me to do 5 years ago and was literally led to this journal entry. I don’t even remember writing this, but I do remember the events of that day very well. Considering the events that have taken place in my life very recently with friends closest to me and regarding my own family relationships, I was so encouraged by this and wanted to share.

While waiting for the answer to a 20 year old prayer or even 2 day old one-whatever it is-just know that God hears you and He sees you. He understands the pain, the hurt, the frustration, the sorrow, the regret, the longing you have in your heart as you are waiting, maybe even asking, “How long Lord?” He also knows that sometimes this season of waiting is so difficult that you may not even know what or how to pray.  When you find yourself in those moments, I can always assure you of this one thing-Pray the Word. It is the one thing He has consistently been reminding me of: Just keep praying. You can never go wrong when you pray His Word and quote it back to Him.  See the prayer I wrote below, taken straight from my journal, regarding Him restoring family relationships. You can pray it for yourself or someone else. Feel free to add your own scriptures and make it personal as well. I pray that you are encouraged and strengthened to continue waiting on Him.

Will You do it God?

Do it because Your Word says that You are a covenant keeping God.

Do it because Your Word says You are faithful.

Do it because Your Word says You not only hear, but You answer prayers as well.

Do it Lord because Your Word says You esteem Your Word higher than Your name.

Do it because Your Word says that You lead me along the right paths for Your namesake.

Do it beause Your Word says that “after you have suffered a while, the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you”.

Do it because You said You would Lord and You are not a man that You should lie nor are You the son of man that You should repent.

Do it because You are the Lord, God of all.

Your Word says, “Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

I am like Hezekiah crying out to You Lord.
Hear my cry Lord.

I am like Abraham beseeching You on behalf of my broken family—that if You could find ten righteous people, You would not destroy the city. “Far be it from You to do such a thing…Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

You told me to trust You Lord. That’s what I’m going to do.

You told me to delight myself in You. That’s what I’m going to do.

You told me to commit my way to You, to “trust also in [You] and [You] should bring it to pass.”

You told me to rest in You and wait patiently for You so that’s what I’m going to do.

You told me to “cease from anger and forsake wrath. Do not fret—it only causes harm” so that’s what I’ll do.

In Jesus’ name,

AMEN!
