“One thing that I’ve learned in this married life is that if love is an ointment, then forgiveness is the band-aid.” ~Whitney Gibbs
Check out this blog post where my friend Whitney touches on this very issue:
Love (and some other stuff) is enough
Whether married or single, in your season of waiting for God to move on your behalf, I can guarantee you He wants to and will continually deal with you about forgiveness.
It is a matter of the heart and more than anything, He is most concerned about the condition of our hearts, especially while we wait. The fact that we cannot escape relationships in this life-i.e. with family, friends, spouses, co-workers, those we may be dating, business partners, classmates, etc., reminds me that we also cannot escape forgiveness.
Truth is: people will fail us, time and time again, because they are human and we will fail others as well because we are imperfect. Therefore, let’s love the way the Epitome of Love Himself calls us to love, not the way the world has outlined it…
…it keeps no record of being wronged~1 Cor. 13: 5 NLT
…does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong (TLB)
…it does not take into account a wrong endured. (AMP)
…it keeps no record of wrongs. (NIV)
