The KJV says:
And therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you…
The Hebrew definition for that word wait means to “wait for Jehovah full of confidence”.
Are you full of confidence while you wait?
Think about the things you are waiting for…perhaps even longing for. All of us have them.
Get whatever that thing is in your mind right now and connect to the emotions, feelings, and images that come to mind as you consider it.
Then read the above verse again. Put yourself in God’s place for a brief moment.
Consider this thought: Just like us, God also has a longing. He, too, is waiting.
Dear sis, His longing is to be gracious to you…to show compassion to you.
Even while you wait.
Even in your longing.
We are called ‘blessed’ when we wait for Him.
While you are waiting for whatever you are waiting for, God is also waiting for you.
The question is, are you willing to wait so He can be gracious and compassionate?
How long will you allow Him to wait?
This week, as you meditate on this verse, look for ways that He has been waiting and longing to be gracious to you, but perhaps you haven’t let Him in or talked to Him recently.
Open up to Him this week and let Him do it.
