#Fuhgetaboutit

Fuhgeddaboudit

No…I didn’t say a curse word, lol.

Translation: Forget about it.

The urban dictionary provides this definition:

The way New yawka’s say forget about it, esp around NYC, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx,  Staten Isle, and Lawn Guyland.
No I aint doin it

https://ladyinwaiting222.com/2018/06/07/fuhgetaboutitHave you ever wanted to say that?

Perhaps you have said that verbally, in your mind or through your actions when God has asked you to do something that you did not want to do.

I know I have. (especially because I am from the Bronx, lol)

You may have even said this when you refuse to go back to or think about some pretty difficult periods or painful times in your life.

But what if I told that there is significance in remembering?

In totally recalling different moments in your life to identify where God came through for you and moved on your behalf in those times?

When He came and rescued you?

There are times while waiting where it will be important to recall those moments and not just say, fuhgeddaboudit”.

Sometimes, the Lord will allow you to recall specific things in order to remind you of ways He has moved and come to your aid in those difficult and painful moments in your life.

In fact, for the last several weeks, He has reminded me of 2 specific things in my own life, one where He spoke to me clearly and another where He showed me in a vision.

These are two things I have been waiting for/on.

They also happen to be two prayers that are deep longings in my heart.

The one where He spoke to me happened in October 2001, almost 17 years ago, during a worship service, and the other was a vision He showed me on January 15, 2011, which was 7 years ago.

Along the way, I have become disheartened, discouraged, and doubtful about these things, wondering whether what I have been waiting for will ever come to pass.

Yet, I also have so many sweet reminders and memorial stone moments, where the Lord has cared for, carried and comforted me in the more difficult times.

Times when it was hard to believe Him.

Moments and crossroads where He protected me and steered me in another direction.

Going back to read my journals over the years has also been helpful because I had forgotten so many prayers He has already answered.

I cling to this truth–that He is the same God now that He was back then.

And while I wait for this promise and vision to come to fruition, I continue to ask Him to show me what He desires for me to learn in the process.

So the next time you are tempted to say, “fuhgeddaboudit“, with regard to recalling things from your past, consider a couple of things:

  1. Sometimes the enemy wants us to remember and dwell on things. He does this for the purpose of accusing or shaming us or to make us feel guilty.
  2. If God is the One calling you to remember those times, remember it’s because He wants to remind you of His character—that He is faithful and His track record is perfect.

If it’s the latter, Sis, that is someting you don’t want to say, fuhgeddaboudit”.
