What do you do when you seem to be asking God the same question over and over again, but are not getting a response?
In your seasons of waiting, this may seem like the case, where God is silent and all you hear are crickets.
When God desires to take us further in our purpose, He calls us to go further in our prayer life. In order to go a little further in our purpose, we must purpose to go a little further in our prayers. ~Tauren Wells
As I read this one day, I began thinking about a constant prayer that I was having lately as it relates to my purpose and a project I had been working on.
The prayer went something like this,
Lord give me a strategy.
I discovered (by way of the Holy Spirit I am sure) 3 things we can do when we God seems silent:
- Be specific in your prayers.
I didn’t need to just simply pray, “Lord, give me a strategy.” Instead, I could pray,
Lord, here are the ideas I have for a book launch. Show me if they are from You and if so, which ones should I do first. Point me in the direction of where you would have me to go, who you want me to talk to and connect with to help me. Position me in the right place so that my mind, heart, eyes and ears are open to what parts of this plan fit where, as well as the people you have assigned to help me plan out each part.
2. Be inclusive and engage Him.
The Lord desires to be included in the details of our lives. The minute I thought I had a handle on things that I was just asking Him for help in, or when I felt like I was finally getting ahead, I tended to either leave Him on the sidelines until I needed Him again. I would only include and engage Him if when I got stuck again.
The Holy Spirit had to remind me that this is a partnership and therefore, I can’t and shouldn’t leave Him out of any part of the process.
I need to consult Him continually, through all phases, from beginning to end as well as in between.
3. Be obedient.
We need to make sure we have completed what the Lord has already told us to do previously.
Have I been obedient to the last step?
Let me also add that this step may not even be related to the thing I am praying about where I feel that He seems silent.
I may be praying about Him opening new doors for a better career opportunity or promotion and He may be asking me to forgive someone who hurt me 20 years ago.
Sis, wherever you are in your purpose journey, I encourage you to do these 3 things if it seems as if God is silent.
Trust Him, even in the midst of a season of silence and cling to Christ like never before.
So timely it ain’t even funny… Lawd! 🔥🔥🔥
