My body betrayed me y’all.
Like…we’ve been rocking together in this body for almost 37 years and it turned on me a few weeks ago.
Completely became my enemy during bootcamp.
Traitor!
I’m talking about extreme heat exhaustion, nausea, menstrual cramps, and low blood sugar combined with a body that had not been working out for almost a year.
Needless to say…there was no sweet aroma from that!
I am thankful, however, that the Lord has put people in place around me that can help and support me on my journey to wholeness, healing and health–spiritually, financially, physically and emotionally.
Once such person is a friend of mine who recently introduced me to this Saturday morning bootcamp.
Although I DID NOT make it throught the workout, I thoroughy enjoyed the concept and flow of the bootcamp.
(I am proud to report that more than a month later, I have not nearly passed out at any of the bootcamps and have been consistently working out during the week.) 🙂
P4:13 is a non-profit organization that hosts a bootcamp every Saturday morning at 8 am to train not only one’s body, but his/her mind and spirit as well.
It starts out with worship music, a prayer and a quick devotional before jumping into a very intense, full body workout.
The scripture from that day was an awesome reminder of how we are to be in Christ.
He came from 2 Corinthians 2:14-16, which talks about the sweet aroma we should be emitting as followers of Christ every day.
Because we belong to and carry the One who is the sweetest, our very presence should change the atmosphere around us just by simply entering any room.
After getting home and washing off my not so sweet aroma (LOL), I read over the verses again and verse 16 made me smile.
Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. (NLT)
Picture that for a moment.
Think of your favorite fragrance, perfume or maybe one of the best scents you’ve ever smelled.
Consider this:
Our lives ought to smell even better than that scent you just thought of.
You see, when you live for Christ, your life will give off this exquisite fragrance that The Message Bible refers to.
In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, He brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life.
And let’s be clear:
It is the presence of Christ in our lives that makes the difference, not us.
Be sure that as you are waiting, you continue to live a life that gives off a sweet scent.
Let it be so pleasing to God that when people stop to ask you what you are wearing, you can tell them about the One who is responsible for this sweet aroma.
(Check out a video interview I did last year called Sense of Smell. I pray it encourages you as you wait.)
