Although I haven’t been on Facebook much this year, or social media, for that matter, the one place I always like to go to when I get on is my memories of what I posted on”This day” X amount of years ago.
Once such memory is worth sharing here.
For the “foolish” things of God have proven to be wiser than human wisdom. And the “feeble” things of God have proven to be far more powerful than any human ability.
1 Corinthians 1:25, The passion Translation
As I think back on this memory and celebrate the fact that I have been in Houston for 2 years as of July 21, 2019, a faith move all on its own, I am simply amazed. I am reminded of just how faithful the Lord is when we are obedient and trust Him.
This is what I wrote on Facebook:
I wanted to share a testimony to encourage anyone who may be wondering if what God is asking you to do (which many times doesn’t make sense) is worth it. As I type, the tears are welling up because the Lord truly is the best Gift giver (He just happens to use other people!). I want to share this because I really want to brag on Jesus this morning! Many know my story of how when I moved in to my own place in 2014, God specifically told me not to buy anything for my apartment. It wasn’t because I couldn’t buy the things I needed, but because He was breaking an independent spirit in me and a way of thinking that I take care of myself, when truly He does a better job at it than me, lol. People couldn’t understand it and it was hard to explain at times to some closest to me, but I had to trust Him to provide what I needed, when I needed it. I knew that when I moved from that place, I was supposed to give (not sell) everything away. I never asked anyone for anything. Everything in my apartment in Maryland was either gifted or bought for me and I am eternally grateful. He started a decluttering process in me a year prior to my move to Houston and it really shifted my mindset as it relates to having and accumulating stuff.
Fast forward to my move to Texas almost a year later. I packed up my car with whatever would fit, and with the exception of a couple of boxes that I shipped, I stepped out on faith to Houston. It was the same process when I moved here. I was instructed not to buy anything, this time with the exception of the very basics, and I do mean bare minimum! I knew I did not want to finance anything. Because of the work He had done in my mind and heart with decluttering, although I had a lot less when I moved here, I didn’t feel that I was missing anything. I had been sleeping on an air mattress for the last 11 months (a quite comfortable one I might add!) My apartment was empty, with the exception of two bar chairs and a beautiful desk for work (that was gifted to me). The Lord used two people to bless me with a beautiful sectional sofa, exactly the same one, colors and all, that I had before in my apartment back in Maryland, and a queen size bed. They were both given to me, without me asking-for FREE!

Sis, I share this with you today as an encouragement and a reminder to you of the God you serve, as you are waiting.
God’s plans and His instructions may look and appear foolish to others. Obey Him anyway! People won’t understand it. TRUST Him and be obedient anyway! He IS faithful and He always does above and beyond what we could ask, think or imagine!
Alex (from Jeopardy), I’ll take foolish for $800 please!
I’ll take what God calls foolish over man’s wisdom any day.
Sis, may you be encouraged today!
